Our Services
Four CNC machining services under one roof. Metamex Engineering provides CNC turning and milling alongside a dedicated fibre laser cutting service and in-house CAD design for clients across the UK — from single prototypes through to full production runs, backed by the Excell Engineering Group.
CNC Turning
Precision-machined rotational components in mild steel, tool steel and hardened steel, to your exact specifications.
CNC Milling
Complex geometries and tight tolerances across a wide range of metals — if we can source the billet, we can machine it.
Fibre Laser Cutting
High-speed, high-precision cutting in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass across a range of thicknesses.
CAD Design
From rough idea to production-ready drawing in Autodesk Fusion 360. The starting point for projects that don't yet have technical drawings.
CNC Turning
Our CNC turning capability produces precision rotational components in mild steel, tool steel and hardened steel. Running on a Colchester Combi 6000 CNC lathe, we deliver consistent accuracy and surface finish whether you need a single prototype or a batch production run.
Tolerances typically range from 0.5mm to 1.5mm depending on geometry and material. Our CNC turning work also includes tooling production for the wider Excell Engineering Group — precision machined components that go on to support manufacturing projects for some of the UK’s most recognised brands. Material certification is available on request.

Our YCM EV1020A milling machine handles complex multi-axis work with the precision your technical drawings demand. We work across a wide range of metals — if we can source the billet, we can machine it — making our CNC milling service one of the most flexible we offer.
From flat profiles to intricate 3D contours, tolerances range from 0.5mm to 1.5mm depending on the complexity and material of your project. Material certification is available on request.

Fibre Laser Cutting
Our 1500W fibre laser cutter delivers fast, clean cuts in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass, with minimal heat distortion and excellent edge quality. Maximum cutting thickness ranges from 4mm to 16mm depending on material.
Ideal for sheet metal profiles, brackets, enclosures and flat components where precision and repeatability matter. Material certification is available on request.

Not every project arrives with a ready-to-machine drawing. Our in-house CAD design service bridges the gap — working from your concept, sketch or verbal brief to produce the technical drawings needed to put a job into production. We use Autodesk Fusion 360 to create precise, manufacture-ready files in formats including DWG, DXF, STEP and PDF.
Because the design and machining happen under the same roof, there’s no back-and-forth between a separate drawing office and the shop floor. Changes are quicker, tolerances are specified correctly from the start, and your project moves faster from idea to finished component.

Our Capabilities
Wide Material Range
Mild steel, tool steel, hardened steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass and more. We work with customer-supplied stock or source material directly on your behalf.
Prototypes to Production
No job too small, no run too large. From one-off samples to scheduled batch deliveries, we flex to your volume, material and timeline requirements.
Quality at Every Stage
In-process inspection and final verification against your drawings. Material certification available on request and full traceability throughout. As a made in Britain manufacturer, every component leaves our Portsmouth facility built to your specification.
How to Get a Quote
Share Your Project
Send us your CAD file, PDF drawing or even a rough sketch with dimensions. If you don’t have technical drawings yet, that’s fine — our CAD design service can take your idea and produce the production-ready files we need before machining begins.
Receive Your Quote
We aim to respond within 1 to 2 working days with a competitive quote covering material, lead time and any design considerations worth flagging.
We Get to Work
Once confirmed, your job enters production at our Portsmouth facility. You can track progress through our order management system from confirmation to dispatch.
Industries We Serve
Our CNC machining services UK-wide supply precision machined components to clients across a broad range of sectors. As a made in Britain manufacturer, every component is produced at our Portsmouth facility by our own team. As part of the Excell Engineering Group, our work has supported projects for brands including Rolls-Royce, Bosch, Volvo and Williams Advanced Engineering.
