Overview

Our CAD Design Service UK

Not everyone who needs a precision-engineered component knows how to produce a technical drawing. Our CAD design service exists for exactly that situation. Whether you have a rough sketch, a concept in mind, or a sample you want to replicate, we'll work with you to translate your idea into a production-ready design using Autodesk Fusion 360.

This service is designed to work hand-in-hand with our CNC Turning, CNC Milling and Fibre Laser Cutting capabilities. Once the design is complete, we can move straight into manufacture — no handoffs, no delays, no miscommunication between separate suppliers.

Looking for a reliable technical drawing service UK businesses can depend on? We'll guide you through the process from first conversation to finished file, and keep you involved at every stage.

Our Tools

Autodesk Fusion 360

We use Autodesk Fusion 360 for all our CAD design work. Fusion 360 is a professional-grade cloud-based design platform that combines 3D modelling, parametric design and manufacturing preparation in a single environment — making it the ideal tool for CAD design for CNC machining.

Designs produced in Fusion 360 translate directly into the manufacturing process, reducing errors and ensuring the finished component matches the intent of the drawing precisely. It also gives us the flexibility to make rapid changes based on your feedback before a single cut is made.

Use Cases

Who This Service Is For

Our CAD design service is for anyone who knows what they need made but doesn't have the technical drawing to make it happen. You might have a sketch on paper, a sample component you want to replicate, or simply an idea you've been working through. We'll take what you have and turn it into a production-ready design.

This is particularly valuable for clients commissioning bespoke tooling, one-off components or prototype parts where no existing drawing exists. Our team will work with you to refine the design, flag any manufacturing considerations early, and ensure the finished CAD file is ready to go straight onto the machine.

As a made in Britain manufacturer, keeping design and manufacture under the same roof at our Portsmouth facility means nothing gets lost in translation. Part of the Excell Engineering Group, we bring decades of manufacturing experience to every design we produce.

How It Works

Our Process

01

Share Your Idea

Send us whatever you have — a sketch, a photo of a sample, a written description or a rough set of dimensions. There's no wrong starting point. We'll review it and come back with any questions before we begin.

02

We Design in Fusion 360

Our team produces your CAD design in Autodesk Fusion 360, keeping you informed throughout. We'll flag anything that might affect manufacture early so changes can be made before production begins.

03

Approve and Manufacture

Once you're happy with the design, we move straight into manufacture using our CNC Turning, Milling or Fibre Laser Cutting capabilities. You can also request your files in .f3d, .ipt, .dwg, .dxf or PDF format.
